FerrariFerrari: Costly Luxury
When one thinks about luxury cars, Ferrari is most often at the top of the list. A former Alfa Romeo employee, and after spending many years building race cars using Alfa Romeo and Fiat components, Enzo Ferrari made the leap to creating Ferrari cars, in 1948, in Maranello, Italy. Today, sixty years later, Ferrari still submits his creations to the luxury automobile segment.
Today, there are more than thirty Ferrari dealers in the United States alone. Hundreds of other Ferrari dealers are located globally, on every habitable continent. However, owning one of these sexy pieces of fine automotive engineering, is not free. Submit yourself to the prowess of a Ferrari dealer, and you'll soon discover a Ferrari may cost you more than your current home.
At the low end of the Ferrari pricing spectrum, the eight cylinder F430 will set the American consumer back from $173,000 to $235,000. The twelve cylinder 612 Scaglietti and the 599 are similarly priced significantly higher, ranging in price from $263,000 to $275,000. However, prepare to hold onto your wallets if you even look at the evolved Enzo, the FXX. This luxury super car, with its V-12, 6.2 liter engine, is a limited edition of only twenty, which is where the Roman numeral XX stems from, and will set you back a price tag in the millions, but epitomizes the Ferrari tradition of costly luxury.
